17-year-old Indian girl Emaan who disappeared from London found in Scotland
After a 10-day long search across the United Kingdom,
missing 17-year-old Indian girl Emaan Shah was
finally found from Scotland on Thursday.
Emaan was last seen shopping with her family in Oxford Street on June 10.
Scotland Yard said on Thursday that Emaan was found safe in Northern Perthshire, Scotland. Investigating officers from the Metropolitan Police are currently liaising with the police in Scotland to get her back to London.
On June 10, at around 2 pm, she got separated from her parents and had not been seen or heard from since.
Officers from Westminster have pieced together CCTV that shows Emaan walking along Wigmore Street, near the junction with Duke Street, after she appears to have left Oxford Street.
The 17-year-old had been on holiday in the UK, for two weeks, with her family and was due to fly home to India on the evening of June 10.
Scotland Yard had earlier said Emaan's disappearance was completely out of character and officers were keen to trace her as soon as possible.
Emaan's father, Tanvir Shah had earlier said "My wife and two sons are now frantic with worry. There is no reason for Emaan to go missing. We'd been enjoying our last few hours in London before catching our flight home. I was just a few paces ahead of my wife and daughter in Oxford Street and when I turned round she'd gone. We are at a point where we cannot eat, we cannot sleep. We are desperate for news about Emaan and just want her back with us."
Detective Inspector Annette Clark, who was leading the investigation to trace the teenager from Westminster had said before news of her whereabouts was known: "Emaan may be 17 but she is not street-wise and she's never travelled alone before. She's is not familiar with London and, to our knowledge, does not have any friends in the capital. It is vital that anyone with information about her whereabouts contact us as soon as possible."
