FAAN to install automated toll gate at Abuja Airport
I wonder if this will be allowed to work properly...
FAAN to introduce automated toll gate at Abuja airport
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) said on Tuesday that
electronic toll gates would be mounted at
the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja, to ease traffic flow.
Mrs Henrietta Yakubu, the Spokesperson for FAAN in Abuja, told the News
Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the measure would complement services at
the airport.
Yakubu said vehicular movements would be reduced because of the use of
the new system.
``The new car parks and roads that had been opened in the airport would
experience easy vehicular movements.
``The new electronic gate pass would be made available to individuals
coming into the airport latest by the end of the first quarter of the
year.
``The old stickers placed on cars would no longer be recognised, with
time.
``We are trying our best to make sure that we ease the traffic flow,
part of which is the new measure.
``It will also enable people to park or leave the airport
easily,’’ Yakubu said.
She added that FAAN would introduce automatic trolleys for passengers'
use.
She said this was part of the ministry's innovations to ensure that the
airport met international standards.
Mr James Shallangwa, the Head of Commercial at the airport, also
told NAN that the use of electronic gate would ensure accountability
for toll fees.
He said the agency would continue to use the old car stickers until the
new one was introduced.
``It will charge people on daily, weekly, monthly or yearly basis,
depending on how many times an individual is coming into the airport in a
vehicle.’’
