Unlatched Container Kills Okada Rider in Lagos
I just received confirmation of this sad event on Metro fm 97.7. An Okada rider has been crushed to death at Trinity bus stop on Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, while his passenger escaped death by jumping into a nearby gutter.
Everyday, I see this unlatched containers and I wonder; how on earth we got to a point that human lives mean nothing. Anybody who sees trailers with their containers in Lagos knows that they will fall at the faintest hint of them having an accident thereby crushing other road users.
Whoever is responsible for monitoring these trailers with containers should know that they have blood on their hands because they have refused to do their duty to ensure that the containers are properly latched. This unfortunately is the norm rather than the exception in all aspects of our life in Nigeria. Truly sad!

American Wife Cuts Off Husband's Manhood
It is almost unbelievable but it's true! Catherine Kieu Becker, 48, is said to have drugged her husband's meal, tied him to a bed after he went to sleep feeling unwell, went ahead to cut his penis with a knife and then called the Police telling them what she had done and said he 'deserved it'.
Lt Jeff Nightengale, of Garden Grove police, near Los Angelis California said the two are going through a divorce. The unnamed husband (I assume we can call him Mr. Becker) was rushed to the hospital after police arrived at the couple's home and found him tied to the bed and bleeding in the groin area.
Mrs. Becker is said to have tossed "her husbands most prized asset" into the garbage disposal and turned it to the 'on' position (she must of have really wanted to get rid of it badly).
She was arrested on suspicion of aggravated mayhem, false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon, administering a drug with intent to commit a felony, poisoning and spousal abuse.
On Wednesday, this week, she was charged to court with torture, bodily injury with a knife and aggravated mayhem - a felony that involves depriving a victim of "a limb, organ, or member of his or her body".
If convicted on all charges she faces life in jail, said the Orange County District Attorney's office after the alleged attack on Monday.

Mark Zuckerberg is the most popular person on Google+
I know that Google+ admits members only by invitation at the moment. Hence, I am somewhat surprised that Google invited Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg to join their new platform which is meant to send his invention to web oblivion.
It has now emerged that Zuckerberg is the most popular person on Google+ which is an irony. According to SocialStatistics.com, Zuckerberg is the most followed user on Google's new social network with 29,543 followers. Larry Page is right behind him with 19,878 while Sergey Brin notches in fourth place with 15,656.
Advise for Google+: keep your competition away from your new products or they may take the shine of you.

Android Leads the Pack in the United States!
If you live in Nigeria, the tendency is to believe that Research In Motion's Blackberry has the largest market share for smart phone devices globally. Well, if that is what you think, you are wrong. New statistics released from comScore.com indicate that at least in the United States. Android devices have taken the lead and demand for them is still growing. I have the feeling that in the next year or two Blackberry devices may suddenly go out of fashion in Nigeria as Samsung is steadily increasing its market share with its Galaxy series.
